Top 5 Fashion Trends for 2023: New Year’s Popular Styles Revealed

Wear what you like and not what is trending. For years I have used this mantra to avoid breaking my bank accounts. But after seeing designers worldwide showcase their 2023 collection, our accounts may soon cry foul play.

We’ve had time to digest a month-long series of fashion shows across London, Paris, New York, and Milan and finally came up with a blueprint for the next year’s fashion trends. And from what we’ve seen, it will be a good one.

Whether you wear designer clothes or not, it’s always a good idea to watch fashion shows as they will help guide your collection. The shows will help you decipher the trends hitting the fashion industry in six months.

And as the new year is right around the corner, we’ve rounded up five of the top fashion trends you can expect to see in 2023.

Sheer Fabric

Sheer looks dominated the runways across the four cities during the fashion week, as nearly 77% of designers had this transparent style in their collection. Expect to see a lot of see-through skirts, dresses, and tops next year.

The best way to style sheer clothing is to make a statement with something underneath. The good thing about this trend is its adaptability to fit any style or match any garment you may already have in your closet.

Ballerina Flats

Yes, that’s right! Ballet flats are back as the biggest shoe trend of the season. Ballet flats will be the trend as they offer fashion lovers a sense of casual elegance, whether you’re having a tiresome workday or headed out for a shopping spree.

Animal print ballerina flats

Ballet flats are also the best when you know you’ll be on your feet for a long time, as they can save you from hours of excruciating pain from wearing uncomfortable heels.

Ruffles

Big and small ruffles came sashaying down various runways across the cities, signaling a return to glamour for both day and evening dressing. From big sleeves to big skirts, the explosion of ruffles in the fashion runways indicates the increasing desire to be more present and noticeable.

Ruffles are a fun way to make a statement, and you can choose a multi-tiered frock or opt for a smaller ruffle detailing on tops or skirt hems.

Cut-Out Dresses

Cut-out dresses are still here to stay from the look of things. We will be seeing more of it in runways and other social events. However, we’re moving from the traditional torso cut-out that we’re used to, to showing more skin on the sides of your body, rib cage, and underboob.

Be prepared to be more daring. But if you’re not courageous enough, pair it with a longline cardigan or coat.

Two Piece Matching Set

The matching set is a trend that you cannot miss out on. I love this style as they are super cute and you can rock the look effortlessly. Kayammah has the matchy matchy set in skirts, shorts, and pants.
